October Arrives 10/1/2011

Sweet Georgia Brown set people's toes to-tappin, as the Band opened up with this familiar number that they've opened so many shows with, probably hundreds.  Really.   After taking the previous week off, due to the Atlanta Earth Festival and thus the dearth of parking, the town was back to normal and the Band was back on stage, cranking out the hits.

Harry Davis was guest artist on guitar, filling in for Steve who was absent.  Mr. Davis always gives a fine performance and this week was one of his best, encouraged by his number one fan in the front row, Miss Mary.  He had these peculiar red marks on his cheek at the start of the second set.......

The Band played some of their favorite numbers, and a couple of Harry's favorites.  The Hall's favorite senior dancing couple, Bob and Shirley, put on a fine softshoe performance during the song Radio.  And as usual, the Band wailed out on Guitar Boogie in A, led by Harry.

Following some delicious oatmeal-nut cookies provided by Linda for no particular reason other than kindness, the Band opened up the second set with Night Train, them song from the Buddy Morrow Orchestra in 1952.  The several audience members attending for the first time seemed to thoroughly enjoy the show.

Catfish ended the show with that great old number, The World's Waiting On The Sunrise.  Incidentally, this song was actually recorded by George Harrison and Paul McCartney during the 1960s.

The patrons cheerfully stepped out into a moonlit fall evening to the strains of Back Home Again In Indiana.

See you next week.........
