11/26/2011 Howdy, Pilgrim

For some reason, everyone at the Hall for this week's show seemed to look a little bigger.....could it be the Thanksgiving gala feast?  Nah, probably just the extra winter clothes being hauled out of storage for the approaching weather, reluctantly adorned on the hardy AMH guests.

It was a calm and sedate evening, with proper tunes being churned out by proper chaps for a proper audience.  Opening with the classic Sweet Georgia Brown evoked memories of man earlier years in which the Band opened every Saturday night with this song.  An interesting selection for number three was Lida Rose, from Music Man.  As you recall, this was one of the barbershop quartet's vocal numbers.  The Band chose to make it an instrumental.

Also played for the first time in a while was the ballad Stranger On The Shore.  Entering into the spirit of the season, the Band also included I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm during the first set.  And in honor of Gerald and Roberta's 49th wedding anniversary, an impromptu Anniversary Waltz was played, accompanied by a round of cookies, thanks to Sue.

Two toddlers kept the crowd aroused and interested.  The tots seemed to really enjoy the show, especially the younger one, judging by her vocal appreciation at various times.  Greg provided a couple of vocals, to the delight of the crowd.

And away they went, to the strains of Back Home Again In Indiana, eagerly anticipating next week's show!
