The last show of the year took place in front of a wildly cheering crowd on a pleasant Saturday night. Well, one wildly cheering fan, dressed in her one-piece Christmas pajama outfit. Lil' Lily was raising the roof with her vocal accolades of the Band's performance--at least one surmises that was approval being voiced.
And the rest of the crowd enjoyed the show too. Though not overflowing, the Hall was comfortably filled with a lot of red garments and glowing faces. The Band was cranking out some pretty decent tunes, with TD Bluesman (Tom Davis) filling in for Steve. TD is a double threat, displaying his talents on both the guitar and harmonica.
The Band played from their regular book for the first set. After intermission the second set kicked off with the seasonal I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm, followed by a few more standards. Then it was time for some Christmas selections, to the delight of all in attendance. Some very popular secular songs that went very well - Winter Wonderland, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Here Comes Santa Claus, and Guarldi's Christmas Time Is Here, from A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Then it was time for some traditional carols, sung by the audience as the Band played them. The show closed off with the traditional banjo solo of Silent Night, followed by an audience singing of the first verse.
"As the patrons stolled out from the Hall to the street,
The music of Christmas in ears sounding sweet,
All eyes were sparkling and smiles gleaming white,
As they greeted each other, Merry Christmas, Good Night".
Merry Christmas to all, and God Bless!
