Hello, New Year. The combination of numbers in this year will be easier to say than last year. Last year one had a couple of choices of pronunciation, both of which were somewhat awkward - "Two Thousand Eleven" (six syllables) or "Twenty Eleven" (five syllables). This current year will most likely quickly evolve into a quick, two-syllable easily-spoken "Twenty Twelve", eventually into "Twunnytwelve". Rolls off the tongue a lot easier.
Anyways, the Band got off to a good start for the very first night performance of the new year. A pretty decent crowd for January showed up (as opposed to an indecent crowd, which sometimes shows up) to hear the boys rock the night away. Since it had been last year since there had been a performance (old joke, have to use it) a lot of the regular hits were played. The show opened up with Ellington's Don't Get Around Much Anymore followed by L-O-V-E. In an optimistic effort, the next song played was When The Red Red Robin Comes Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob Bob whoaaa! (too many Bobs) Along.
A couple of VERY special birthdays were noted - Margaret turned 98 and Wilma Duncan turned 90! The Band was honored to have them both present and serenaded them separately with their birthday song.
Sometime this March will mark the 25th anniversary of the Atlanta Music Hall. A lot have happy times and concerts have taken place through the years, and there will be many more to come. Be sure to come visit often during the off season, since the season ticket holders are out and the good seats are available.
