January weather came back, with a vengenance. Temperatures dropped into the single digits, but that still couldn't keep away some folks anxious to hear some good music. 'Bout half a Hall full of people came out to hear the Band, and were treated to another excellent performance.
Ain't Misbehavin, a classic number by John "Fats" Waller opened the show. One of the Band's number one fans was in attendance again, this time on the front row, adding her two cents' worth, bouncing and clapping to keep time. Lil' Lily seems to love the show.
Never content to rest on its laurels, the Band tried out yet another new number. New to them, it was written in the 30s', a latin-beat number with the title of Poinciana. It went very well, and will no doubt become a permanent addition to the Book, along with last week's Emily.
The floor of the Hall seemed to be leaning to the west; maybe it was because everyone was sitting on that side, until after the show started, and a handful sat on the other side. Maybe they were just cold........
There was a very special birthday celebrated, Roberta Terry, wife of Boss Catfish! Chocolate brownies were enjoyed by all.
After the show, a late night bite at Ed's place next door sure goes down well.
See you next week.
